Tim opens the show with a few comments about Tim Tebow (Christian quarterback for Denver Broncos), and how God is using Tebow for His own good purposes.
Flip (Phillip) Benham is the current head of Operation Save America and former head of Operation Rescue. Flip is heavily involved in protecting the unborn.
Flip says he was excited in 1973 when Roe-Wade passed, and before he came to know the Lord. He says he was a "drunken bum", and then turned his life around and went to Asbury Theological Seminary. He said that a majority of those in the seminary believed that abortion was "ok", although not the best solution. He graduated from Seminary in 1980, and then went on to pastor a Church, where he began preaching against abortion in 1982.
He founded a crisis pregnancy center in 1984. In 1988 he became heavily involved in the pro-life movement, and has been to jail several times based on his protests. He met Norma McCorvey of Roe v. Wade in 1993 (Norma was "Roe" in that case), and told her that 33 million babies have been killed due to the Roe V Wade decision. In 1995 Flip moved the national office of Operation Rescue next to the abortion mill where Norma worked. He then tells about Norma coming to the Lord, with Flip himself having the honor of baptizing her.
In 1991 at the zenith of the abortion movement, there were over 2000 free standing abortion mills. Today there are only 669 abortion mills, and the number of abortionists is down around 40%.
Tim brings up the Republican primary, and mentions that Romney was a supporter of planned parenthood. Tim then asks if Flip could support Romney. Flip says that voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for evil. He says in the last election he wrote in Alan Keyes rather than vote for McCain. Flip says that abortion is not a political issue, it is a Gospel issue.
Flip and Tim then start a discussion on the proposed "personhood amendment". Flip says that this is an extremely important piece of legislation, and compares it to the emancipation proclamation. The personhood amendment declares that a pre-born baby is a person that is protected by the color of law in our country.
