Pastor Danny Daniels is today's guest. Danny is the pastor of First Southern Baptist Church in Las Vegas, with services at 11 am on Sunday. Danny grew up San Jose, served in the Marine Corps in Vietnam, and is a graduate of California Baptist Univ. and Golden Gate Baptist Seminary.
Danny is the author of Mortal Midnight, and is the host of a TV show called "Momentum" that is a men's talk show with Bible study. Danny has now written a book called the "The 2012 Delusion". Tim asks if the Mayan prediction has anything to do with the book of Revelation. Danny responds that there is absolutely no relation between the two. He says that there were a number of Mayan calendars, and the one being discussed currently is the "long count calendar" which is cyclic. He then talks about other famous dates that have come and gone, and mentions June 6, 2006 (666) and a few others, along with Harold Camping's latest false prediction for the "end of the world" on Oct. 21, 2011.
Danny points out that the Bible has a beginning and an end, but that the Bible also has a big middle, and that middle is for our life, to get to know God's grace, redemption, salvation, successful Christian living, etc. Tim then mentions 1 Timothy 4:1 that talks about some falling away from the faith, and doctrines of demons. Danny responds that this relates to the "new age" which is now called the "new spirituality", and is outside the Bible. He says there is a doctrine of demons in the view that man is god, and that Jesus is just another person out there that was a teacher.
Tim brings up some of Oprah Winfrey's statements about Christianity, like "Jesus coming was not about his death and dying on the cross". Danny then relates this to the new spirituality movement, with no sin and no judgment. He says that the Jesus Christ that Oprah believes in is not the Jesus Christ of the New Testament, and that the new age Jesus Christ is a bloodless crossless Christ.
Danny and Tim then talk about the Da Vinci code, with Tim asking Danny to describe how he would witness to somebody that believes in the Da Vinci code. Danny responds that the code is myth with no history behind it. He then says a few words about the "scholars" that worked at the Jesus Seminar, with an agenda to tear down Biblical truth. Tim and Danny then talk about some of the cult movements like IAM, Hindu scriptures, and other topics.
